Philly Tree People will be lending a hand to the Northeast Tree Tenders. They will be planting 50 street and yard trees all over the Northeast and we have the tools and the trees, but will need many hands to help us plant! Please come out and help beautify the NE and have lots of fun in the process! 2. Sunday, May 9, 2010 @ 12 noon: Mother's Day Flower Planting on Huntingdon Street
Join us on Mother ’s Day for a special gardening event! NKCDC and Philly Tree People will be helping neighbors clean out and plant flowers in tree pits between Kensington Avenue and Frankford Avenue! Bring your own gloves. Water and healthy snacks will be provided. Starting up at 12 noon. Meet up at Huntingdon and Emerald Streets.
3. Saturday, May 22, 2010 @ 12pm-5pm: Trenton Avenue Arts Fest & Kinetic Sculpture Derby
This is a sprinkle or shine event (severe weather date is planned for Sunday, May 23rd, 12pm-5pm). This event is being held on Trenton Avenue (between Norris and Frankford), Philadelphia, PA, 19125. This is the East Kensington/Fishtown neighborhood. There will be many local artists, live music, neighborhood nonprofits, dozens of sculpture derby participants and more. PHS & the Philly Tree People are hosting a mini Tree Tenders workshop for residents of the 19125 zip code on Wednesday, October 28th at 6pm to 8pm at Coral Street Arts House (2446 Coral Street, Philadelphia PA 19125) as part of the Sustainable 19125 initiative, a partnership between the New Kensington CDC and more than 60 individual residents and groups.
The workshop will cover basic tree care, how trees grow, urban stresses on trees, and a bare root tree planting how-to. You can RSVP to Alice Edgerton at PHS, aedgerton@pennhort.org
or 267-968-0863, but walk-ins are welcome.

Thanks you to our Volunteer Pruners
We had a successful event this past Saturday for our first Philly Tree People Pruning Club event at Greensgrow. 14 volunteers came out and collectively worked for a total of 51 volunteer work hours and we pruned 33 trees. Amazing!!!
